What Is SEO (and why should you care)?

SEO = Search Engine Optimisation. In short, SEO is the action of adding keywords and phrases to web pages to increase ranking and ‘authority’ within search engine results.

In terms of digital content, the way that web pages and search engines work is fairly simple - if there is no text on the page or a description of an image, ‘the bots’ won’t know that there is something on the page.

The more you give a search engine to work with (text and correctly formatted images) the better it will do for you in rankings and results.

In terms of ecommerce, this works across every page but landing pages, product pages, category pages and journal posts provide key opportunities for SEO placement.

Do you know the best SEO keywords for your brand? I have added some of my favourite SEO tools below to help get you started...

Should you care about SEO? Yes, yes you should (or let me care for you!) Essentially, if you don't have SEO keywords on your webpages no relevant customer will be able to find you.

How SEO works across search engines and web pages is a system you can learn, understand and practise to improve traffic and increase sales for many years to come.

I offer custom PDF tutorials, 1:1 guidance and monthly collaborative packages covering SEO, targeted towards service providers and ecommerce retailers. Don't worry, it gets to be fun…!
