July Inspiration Roundup

July inspiration roundup ~ Who else is as baffled as I am that it's August tomorrow?

It has been an interesting month for me. I turned 30 (thank you to the friends who reassured me that life is not over), I took a big step back from social media and I’ve been given a Google Upskilling Scholarship thanks to the @femalefactor.global.

Here is what else has been going on over the last 30 days…

1 & 2. I took some time out to browse some local spots with my mum, which was a nice reminder of just how many lovely places there are in South Devon. @thecraftmongers was a particular highlight with the most beautiful interior and handpicked crafted items, and for lunch at @outside_devon I had my mind blown by this mint kombucha from @boochikombucha, brewed just up the road from home.

3. Last Tuesday @finisterre launched their Yulex Wetsuit Rental service, the first of its kind in the world! Having worked for the company previously, I know the price points can sting some pockets, so I’m super impressed at the rental cost for 5 days which I think is really accessible.

4. I’ve noticed a really big difference mentally and in my productivity since stepping back from social media for the past 3 weeks - I no longer scroll Instagram or FB and am capping my YouTube usage next. I’ve listened to a fair few discussions around the science and psychology around social media addiction and excessive screen usage, these three have really stuck with me:

5. A film to watch - Once Bitten (1985). A lesser known movie from the ‘80s and Jim Carey’s first role. Lauren Hutton stars as a countess and dons some punchy outfits. A bit questionable in some places (the ‘80s, ay) but light and silly with a good bit of aesthetic inspiration.
